Bristol Rovers loan midfielder Luke McCormick has been linked with a summer move to the Championship.

The 22-year-old Chelsea is enjoying a successful stint at Mem this season, at least on a personal level.

The central midfielder has made 29 appearances for the gas this quarter, scoring three goals and his rate of improvement since joining the club on loan in September has been impressive.

But they will face stiff competition from his signing, with The sun reporting that championship team Millwall followed McCormick’s performances in the blue and white quarters.

McCormick’s deal at Stamford Bridge expires in 2022 and, with a breakthrough in Thomas Tuchel’s first-team setup unlikely, the midfielder is set to leave for good this summer.

Last month Bristol Live asked McCormick if he could consider a permanent switch to BS7 in his future.

“I greatly appreciate the support,” he replied. “The Gasheads are a huge fan base and I knew that before I joined the club.

“They just want us to put our hearts and souls on the field for the badge.

“It’s frustrating not having played in front of them, but I can feel their support from home through social media.

“Wherever the end of the season and summer takes me, I don’t know yet.

“I’m a Chelsea player first and foremost so it’s hard to comment on, but I love this football club and hope that one day I can play in front of the fans soon.”
